1938 Zenith 9 tube shutter dial chassis-Nicely restored Picture(s) and Description:

Mr.Majestic1 Store 1938 Zenith 9 tube shutter dial chassis-Nicely restored 1938 Zenith 9 tube black dial/shutter dial chassis #5905 for use in 7 different 9 tube shutter dial models. Nicely restored. Up for bids is a really clean and nicely restored 1938 Zenith Black Dial/Shutter Dial 9 tube radio chassis #5905. The 5905 chassis was used in seven different 1938 Zenith radio model cabinets: 9S204, 9S232 (Walton), 9S242, 9S244, 9S262, 9S263 & 9S264. The chassis is extremely clean and was purchased at auction from the estate of a radio repairman/collector. It was originally housed in a 9S262 console cabinet in need of TLC. This 5905 chassis has probably the nicest, cleanest AM broadcast band shutter I have ever seen. Take a look at the pictures to the right to get a better look at how bold, bright and clear the lettering on each shutter dial is. There is absolutely no crazing or fading whatsoever to any of the 3 dials. The original convex dial glass, gold metal "Z" dial pointer and split-second tuning pointer or as Zenith called it, the "station relocator" are all in excellent physical and good working condition. The icing on the cake so to speak is the chassis also has a bright new eye tube, new dial belt/"O" rings and a new line cord. The motorized tuning is fast and smooth from one end of the spectrum to the other. A word of warning......don't focus your eyes on the fine tuning dial pointer while using the motorized tuning. You might wind up on the floor suffering from acute dizzyness. Except for the eye and rectifier tubes, the other 7 tubes are all Zenith branded with either engraved bakelite or "Zenith" silk screened bases. Reception with only a short antenna produced great results on both AM and Short Wave. Please click on any picture to enlarge it and get a better look at a very clean, fully operational Zenith 9 tube shutter dial chassis along with a couple of pictures from the 1938 Zenith radio catalog including all details of the shutter/robot dial and its capabilities. The dial bezel, band switch and knobs pictured in the catalog are not included in the auction. Winning bidder pays via Paypal within 3 days of the completion of the auction.
